The Story Behind the Fifth Stream
A Place for Integration
The Fifth Stream exists to help people rise with clarity, resilience, and renewed direction. It’s a space for thoughtful individuals who sense there is more to who they are and who they can become. Here, we integrate the best of psychology, neuroscience, performance science, and timeless biblical principles to explore how the mind, heart, body, and spirit work together. This is not a place for quick fixes. It's a place for people who want to think carefully, grow meaningfully, and take real steps forward.
So why The Fifth Stream?
In Genesis, the garden of Eden is nourished by four rivers—four streams that sustain life, growth, and beauty at the beginning of the biblical story. Scripture ends with a different image: the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God in Revelation. The Fifth Stream points to that movement—from creation to restoration, from what was to what will be. It’s a reminder that every person is invited into a journey of becoming whole again, not by escaping life, but by being renewed within it.
As The Fifth Stream grows, it will continue developing into a fuller ecosystem of writing, resources, courses, and restorative practices. Everything is built around integration that brings together cognitive and emotional insight, spiritual formation, behavioral change, and the science of human flourishing. Whether someone arrives here seeking clarity, healing, momentum, or direction, the aim stays the same: to create a gentle but steady space that helps them renew their strength and rediscover what matters.
From the Founder
Hello and welcome! My name is David and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
I created The Fifth Stream as a venue for preserving, refining, and sharing the work that emerges from my ongoing study in psychology, theology, and neuroscience, along with years of pastoral experience. I believe the human mind and the truths of God are not opposed but held together in a way that lets each shed light on the other. The sciences help us grasp the patterns of the mind, while the wisdom of God gives meaning and direction to those discoveries. Together, they help us understand ourselves more honestly and more hopefully. I approach this work not as someone above the journey but as someone committed to learning, integrating, and growing alongside the people I serve.
The people who tend to resonate here are the ones who want to grow stronger without losing softness, build resilience without rigidity, and find direction without pressure. Many are familiar with or drawn to Christian theology, but not all. If faith is new, uncertain, or simply not part of your language right now, you’re still welcome. My hope is that you find encouragement, clarity, and practical help regardless of where you’re starting from.
At its heart, The Fifth Stream is about helping willing people rise—through understanding, through renewal, and through the patient integration of truth and practice. I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope this space strengthens and supports you in all the ways you need.
